How does the Driver Point System Work?
The Driver Point System system works on a rolling five year basis tracking personal driving offense convictions.
This Driver Point System attaches to an individual driver’s license, not a vehicle.
After a driver receives a certain amount of points, a suspension, or even revocation is issued by the Illinois Secretary of State
The length of the driver’s license suspension for those under the age over 21:
15 to 44 points = Two (2) month license suspension
45 to 74 points = Three (3) month license suspension
75 to 89 points = Six (6) month license suspension
90 to 99 points = Nine (9) month license suspension
100 to 109 points = Twelve (12) month license suspension
110+ points = License Revocation
The length of the driver’s license suspension for those under the age of 21:
10 to 34 points = One (1) month license suspension
35 to 49 points = Two (2) month license suspension
50 to 64 points = Six (6) month license suspension
65 to 79 points = Twelve (12) month license suspension
80+ points = License Revocation

Speeding Too Fast for Conditions - 625 ILCS 5/11-601(a): 10 points
Speeding 11-14 MPH Above Limit - 625 ILCS 5/11-601: 15 points
Speeding 15-25 MPH above Limit - 625 ILCS 5/11-601: 20 points
Exceeding the Maximum Speed Limit in a Construction Zone - 625 ILCS 5/11-605.1: 20 points
Exceeding the Maximum Speed Limit in a School Zone - 625 ILCS 5/11-605: 20 points
Speeding 26-34 MPH Above Limit - 625 ILCS 5/11-601.5(a): 50 points
Speeding 35+ MPH Above Limit - 625 ILCS 5/11-601.5(b): 50 points
Aggravated Speeding in a Construction Zone - 625 ILCS 5/11-605.1: 55 points
Aggravated Speeding in a School Zone - 625 ILCS 5/11-605: 55 points
